Rounding to Nearest 10

Rounding to the nearest 10 is a method used to estimate a number to the nearest multiple of 10. This is helpful when you want to quickly estimate a number without needing an exact value.

To round a number to the nearest 10, you look at the digit in the ones place.

• If the ones digit is 5 or greater, you round up to the next multiple of 10.
• If the ones digit is less than 5, you round down to the previous multiple of 10.

For example:

• If you want to round 43 to the nearest 10, you look at the ones digit (3) which is less than 5, so you round down to 40.
